Los Bravos, one of the few Rock groups from a
non-English speaking country to have an international hit. spanish
group formed in 1966, just as the British Invasion was on the wane, or so the liner notes
to this first-time CD reissue say. The group was led by former Mike & the Runaways
singer Michael Volker Kogel (born in Berlin, Germany, in 1944). The other four original
members -- bassist Miguel Vicens Danus (born in Corunna, Spain, 1943), guitarist Tony
Martinez (born in Madrid, Spain, 1944), organist Manuel Fernandez (Sevilla, Spain, 1942),
and drummer Pablo Sanllehi (Barcelona, Spain, 1943) -- had all been working together
previously in the Spanish group Los Sonors. Upon coming together to try their hand at
cracking the English-speaking European pop market, this new configuration changed their
name for a one-off single on Columbia Records' Spanish division before they eventually
signed with Decca Records' Spanish division. They were assigned to work with successful
British producer/arranger/conductor/composer Ivor Raymonde (who had already scored
numerous U.K. hits with Marty Wilde, Billy Fury, Dave
Berry, and others) in England. The result of this union of talent and proven production
skills produced the band's first single, the rhythm-driven "Black Is Black,"
that same year. It shot up the charts to number two in the U.K. and on August 10, 1966, it charted on Billboard and CashBox. Soon the band enjoyed moderate
to major success around the world.

Zodiacs
Composer(s), autor(es)=
Giorgio Moroder & Pete Bellotte.
Recorded in April 1977 in Germany.
gravada originalmente (ou tb) por (originally

Someone told me: "The German and US version of 'Zodiacs' differ a
lot, one from the other, being two distinct arranges of the same song."
Zodiacs is a perpetually fun, classic single, a bright, horn-infested groover,
replete with references to all of the astrological signs, with a quest to find our right
matches. Kelly applies
the right amount of kitsch to the lyrics, while still sounding very believable atop the
production of Giorgio Moroder
and Pete Bellotte. Giorgio Moroder
is born on Italy, 1940. Released his bigger hit, SON OF MY FATHER, in 1972,
a pionner of the disco computer music. Giorgio Moroder
discovered Donna Summer, Roberta Flack, Irene Cara, etc.

House of the rising sun
Composer(s), autor(es)= Alan
Price
gravada originalmente (ou tb) por (originally recorded (or also) by) = The
animals
Published by Warner Brothers. (WB.4701HSMX) After playing that haunting organ solo to the
Animals' "House of the Rising Sun," Alan Price
went solo and carved himself a niche (in England, at least) as a pop craftsman. For many,
his most enduring contribution has been this soundtrack to Lindsay Anderson's allegorical
1973 film about a coffee salesman. Price's characteristic keyboard flourishes are all over
tracks like "Pastoral" and "Arrival," while the biting wit of
"Poor People" and "Sell Sell" never once overshadows the innate
tunefulness of the songs. Even if you've never seen the movie, Price's delightful and
memorable score is highly recommended. --Dan Epstein
I still remember snatches at Baptist
churches with my parents and now I only remember Alan's lines, thankfully.
Alan Price is an amazing composer and singer (and musician).

Neil Sedaka golden decade was from 1956 until 1966. He wrote hit songs for
Connie Francis (Stupid Cupid, among
others), And then in 1958 he signed with RCA,
and scored an unbroken string of hits that includes some of the era's most memorable
songs: The Diary, I Go Ape, Oh! Carol, etc
by the time Sedaka was sixteen, Artur Rubinstein voted him one of the finest classical
pianists in New York City high schools. After
having been introduced to a young neighbor, Howard Greenfield, (by Greenfield's mother),
they began a permanent successful songwriting partnership.
in 1958, at the age of eighteen, when Sedaka was catapulted
into stardom after Connie Francis recorded his "Stupid Cupid."
As a result of these hits, Sedaka was able to sign a contract with RCA
as a writer and performer of his own material. Sedaka soon recorded chart toppers
"The Diary," "Oh! Carol,"
the "British
Invasion" by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones in the United States, when the music
scene began to change and his record sales dwindled
Sedaka also
helped to launch the career of the Captain and Tennille with their version of his
"Love Will Keep Us Together," which won a Grammy Award .....

My life
Composer(s), autor(es)= Letra
(lyrics) = Billy Joel - Música (music)= Billy
Joel
gravada originalmente (ou tb) por
(originally recorded (or also) by) = Billy Joel,
Born on 9 May 1949 in the Bronx. Billy started piano lessons at age 4, but disliked learning
classical music. The endless hours of practice were a chore for him. He began composing
early - pretending to be playing Mozart/whatever while composing his own music in a
classical style! Billy "idolized the Beatles, especially Paul - nobody could come
up with the melodies he could."
He had the band "The Echoes" which played cover versions of
popular hits including songs by The Rolling Stones and The Beatles.
At twenty-one Joel did time (voluntarily) in a
psychiatric observation ward because of depression which had led to a suicide attempt. According to Joel "The first day I
was there I realized ... my problems
were nothing compared to what these other people were going through." In March
1985 he married the model Christie Brinkley, who
inspired Uptown Girl. Billy doesn't like his cool
voice. He speaks frankly, and without bitterness, of his experiences with bad
managers.
